Philips HP8141/46 ( HP8141/00) Hair Dryer : Review

Guest Post By Sreeparna

I am going to review a hair styling tool today. It is a Hair Dryer from Philips with Model No. HP8141/46. Last Diwali I got a Philips Hair Styling Kit; this dryer was there in the kit along with a hair straightener. This is my first hair dryer and my first heat tool as well. So, I am pretty excited to share my experience with this product with you. Generally, I do not experiment with my hair at all. No colour, no perming, no permanent straightening or smoothing till date! Just a bit of henna 3-4 times a year along with regular oiling, washing and conditioning feels a lot of haircare to me. My hair behaves pretty bad most of the time making my entire look suffer. So, I bought this dryer to do some heat styling occasionally. In today’s review you are going to find out how this tool works for my hair.

Packaging

This hair dryer comes packed in a cardboard box made out of recycled material. Inside the box, the dryer is secured with clear plastic wrapping. The company provides a detailed user manual where the instructions and warnings are mentioned. Overall the packaging is up to the mark for preventing any damage before the pack is opened and the user manual is quite good to understand how this thing works.

Appearance/Outlook

The HP8141/46 is a pretty pink coloured hair drying tool with black insulated wire and a small concentrator attachment. The hot air is emitted from the opening of the dryer where the concentrator needs to be attached. Since it is a basic all-purpose hair dryer, the concentrator does not converges the hot air-too much. That means, the air blowing out of the nozzle will not bear that much heat and will cover wider area. It comes with two heat settings; the first one dispenses warm air for less damaging hair drying and the second one blows more heated air for quicker actions.

My Experience

Due to the curly-wave texture of my hair, my hair has a tendency to look frizzy when it air-dries. Though it does not create that much problem when I am staying at home, but it causes havoc on my overall look if I am going out in humid weather. Sometimes I do not have enough time to dry my hair naturally. To cater these two problems I generally reach to my hair dryer. I am not a regular dryer user, I use it once or twice a month not more than that. Also, I do not like to dry when my hair is dripping wet. I let my hair dry naturally for 5-10 minutes and then start with the drying tool. This ensures less exposure to the heat, which on the other hand means less heat-damage. I apply my L’Oreal hair serum to the hair strands beforehand as heat-protection product and so far it is working well for me. My six months hair dryer experience has taught me some tricks to get desired results from hair-dryer with least damage. I never hover my hair dryer at one place for more than 2-3 seconds and every now and then I comb my hair to distribute the heat evenly.

Let’s move on with how I use my hair dryer. I like to dry my hair part by part; from the nape of my neck to the crown region of the head. This ensures less frizz yet voluminous hair. Till last month I was using my fingers as guide while drying. Then I got a round brush as a gift from an aunt and it changed the effects of drying like nothing else. Now I get quicker results and more straight hair. With this versatile product you can set your hair straight or curly. Since I already have curly textures to my hair I just make the locks loose enough with my dryer to reduce tangles. With this dryer you can achieve poker straight hair but I haven’t tried it for that would require lots of heat and time too. I think this product falls in the ‘value for money’ range!
