La Shield FISICO Sunscreen Gel SPF50+ With PA+++ : Review

Sunscreen Sins are dangerous. Everybody loves soaking some sun. But anything more than those 20 minutes in the morning, could damage your skin. I have entered into my 30s. By this time I have realized the mistakes, I have committed throughout my life. Not wearing a Sunscreen is among the top ones. Once I read everything about sunscreen and I started wearing sunscreen daily. Today, I am going to speak about La Shield FISICO Sunscreen Gel, which is a physical sunscreen. This sunscreen contains 25% Zinc Oxide providing broad-spectrum sun protection i.e. SPF 50+ & PA+++

Physical sunscreen is always my preference because I have problematic skin. Physical sunscreens mostly use natural formulation to provide sun protection such as Zinc Oxide, which is also beneficial for the skin. Chemical sunscreens, on the other hand, contain more complex chemical formulations, which I think might be not good in the long term.

Above all, a physical sunscreen does not really get absorbed into your skin, clogging your pores, while some of the chemical sunscreens might do so.

The sunscreen is 100% natural origin containing 25% Zinc Oxide to provide broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection. Eco-certified active Zinc Oxide provides protection against the sun. The sunscreen does not have any chemical fillers which might irritate skin. The sunscreen is also water-resistant and dermatologically tested.

Price & Availability

The sunscreen is available at online shopping websites as well as pharmacy & chemist shops. The price of the sunscreen for 50g varies in between Rs. 450 to 700 depending upon the discount a store offers. I get it via Amazon at a great discount.

Packaging

Packaging

The sunscreen is available in SPF 40 & SPF 50 versions. Both have almost the same packaging. The sunscreen tube is packed in a white and orange themed card box that give out all the details about the product including the features, directions to use, ingredients along with manufacturing details, and price. The tube itself is very sturdy. It is also white & orange themed with a white screw-on cap. Almost every information is also provided on the tube. So even if you lose the carton, you can refer to the tube for details.

The tube is very convenient to carry around. It is leak-proof & easy to use.

How To Use La Shield FISICO Sunscreen Gel?

The tube should be stored in a cool place to maintain it’s efficacy. Taking a dollop of sunscreen is advised by dermatologists for maximum protection. Apply a dollop on the face and neck. Also, apply sunscreen on the exposed areas of your body such as hands & feet. Since this sunscreen contains 50 SPF it will give you protection for 50 X 5 minutes = 250 minutes which comes out to be approx 4 hours, after which you should reapply the sunscreen.

** Reapply the sunscreen to keep your skin protected.

When To Reapply A Sunscreen?

It is very important to reapply sunscreen but after how much time? It depends upon the SPF value of the sunscreen you are using and the time in which your skin starts reacting to the sun. For example, your skin starts burning in a matter of merely 7 minutes, and you wear a sunscreen with SPF value 15, then this sunscreen will protect your skin for 15 x 7 = 105 minutes or  1 hour and 45 minutes approximately. So after about 105 minutes, you must reapply your sunscreen.

The fairer the complexion, the sooner it will start to burn. Darker skins can resist skin burn for a longer duration. I have a wheatish complexion, so without taking any risk, I assume my skin will start damaging in the sun after 5 minutes. I reapply my SPF 50 after 5 X 50 = 250 minutes without fail.

Fragrance & Texture

Texture , Color & Consistency
Texture , Color & Consistency

The fragrance of La Shield Sunscreen Gel is faintly sweet and herbal. I do not smell anything chemical out of it. The sunscreen has a silicon-y feel maybe because it’s a physical sunscreen and it is supposed to coat the skin to protect it from the sun. The texture is otherwise very smooth to work with. It spreads easily. Initially, there is some white cast, but it vanishes away if I massage is nice. It leaves skin totally matte that I can put on makeup over it.

My Experience With La Shield FISICO Sunscreen Gel

I have had my fair share of a bad experience with sunscreens. Some made me oily, some broke me out. Some left me looking like a white ghost. It’s really tricky when it comes to choosing a sunscreen for oily and acne-prone skin. That’s the reason I used to shy away from using one. But in long run, it only gave me bad skin texture with dark spots. The Sun is really bad for the skin. It hurts you silently & secretly while you do not realize. It hurts you when you expect it the least.

La Shield Sunscreen Gel is the one sunscreen that I regret not trying out earlier. I am on the second tube of this sunscreen. Even though I knew about this for a long time, but never really took it seriously. Rather, I kept on trying out others while the perfect one kept on waiting for me. Okay, maybe it’s too filmy, but that’s how I feel.

I like the lightweight texture of the sunscreen as it goes very smoothly on my skin. It does not make me feel heavy or make me sweat as some other sunscreens have done in the past.  Also, it does not have an overpowering smell. It does not make me feel uncomfortable with its finish.

Results In Long Term

The sunscreen provides broad-spectrum protection for up to 4 hours (my calculation), so the sunscreen kind of saves you from re-application headache after 2 hours. Reapplying twice a day works well given that I do not go out in the sun. If you have field engagement, you must reapply it after every 4 hours or if the sunscreen gets rubbed or wiped off due to sweat.

Zinc Oxide is good for acne-prone skin. Zinc helps skin heal fast. It also takes away redness/inflammation. So the sunscreen kind of works in two ways for me. It works on my skin issues while giving me sun protection. My skin looks & feels good after using this sunscreen. That’s what sunscreen is supposed to do. Right?

Is La Shield Fisico Sunscreen Gel non-comedogenic? Hell YES. It does not clog my acne-prone skin. It is also paraben-free and safe for sensitive skin.

What Could Be Better?

They seem to have changed the formula a little bit and now it’s more silicon-y than matte. I don’t like it. It contains a lot of silicons, which I don’t consider to be good for the skin. Silicons trap everything under, sebum, dirt, and dead skin cells. Which could result in the formation of whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples?

Summary: 4.5/5
