Estee Lauder Double Wear SPF 10 Foundation – Sand 1W2 : Swatches & Review

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation is all time favorite of those who like to wear high coverage makeup that to for long time. I have tried many high coverage foundation but nothing as compared to Double Wear. Maybelline Fit Me Foundation & L’Oreal Paris Infallible stay Fresh Foundation had been cult favorite till I tried Double Wear. I tried this foundation for the first time few years back when I was on my second honeymoon in Thailand. But back then, I was bit dicey about it’s performance. Later I regretted skipping this foundation. Finally I got this on my last birthday along with Estee Lauder Sumptuous Mascara.

I really get obsessed whenever I buy something new. So I have been using it since August. Every time I must use a foundation, I would reach for Estee Lauder Double Wear, while, Maybelline Fit Me & L’Oreal Stay Fresh foundation look upon me with hope in eyes. But I become stone-heart and ignore these once-favorite foundations. After using Double Wear foundation, I can understand why girls are crazy for this foundation. Let me take you on a virtual tour of this foundation’s features.

Estee Lauder presents remarkably long lasting and lightweight foundation which feels comfortable up to 15 long hours. This foundation can resist humidity & heat. This foundation is smudge free, oil free & transfer free.  The foundation is formulated without fragrance. It is non acnegenic, dermatologist tested.

Price & Availability

This is a pricey affair at Rs. 3600 for 30ml available at Sephora & other Estee Lauder counters. You can buy at at much cheaper prices like upto 2000 INR via online shopping websites.

Ingredients

Packaging

The outer carton of the foundation is navy blue with golden accents. It contains all the information about the foundation.

The foundation comes in a transparent bottle with golden cap over it’s mouth. The packaging is not much convenient to use, a pump would have been better.

Shade – Sand 1W2

I have Wheatish skin tone. I wear yellow based foundations & base makeup. This Sand shade is yellow but is bit light for my skin tone. I think this shade is wearable for light to wheatish complexions.

Fragrance & Texture

This is supposed to be a fragrance free foundation as claimed by Estee Lauder but I can smell something weird out of the bottle. Something really chemically.

It is quite runny yet thick foundation to provide nice coverage. The formula is quick drying so one must work pretty quick  before it sets by itself.

My Experience

My ideal foundation is one that gives above medium coverage, stay matte for long hours, does not look cakey & matches my skin complexion. Price is something I can overlook when it comes to base makeup.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation is thick enough to give almost flawless coverage. I also like the fact that the finish is buildable and achievable using different tools such as foundation brush, sponge or beauty blender.

I start by moisturizing my face with Clean n Clear Moisturizer which is very lightweight & water based. I take a pea size amount and start dotting my face. Quickly I start blending it all either with fingers, brush or a beauty blender. A damp beauty blender works the best to achieve natural finish. If I let the foundation stay on my face even for few seconds it literally sets as such. So I always act fast to blend it right away.

As I mentioned above, this shade is not a close match to my skin tone. I bought it from Sephora & they had only had Sand with them which was yellow toned. So I behaved foolish & got this, thinking I might mix it with Maybelline Fit Me Sun Beige 310 which was lying unused with me. But the mix never worked, since they are from different brands.

I still love to wear it, as it settles down to my skin tone within half an hour which is a nice thing. Since it contains SPF 10, this also adds a bit of white cast. I really don’t like makeup with SPF since it changes the shade subsequently. I also don’t understand the significance of adding this bit of SPF.

It takes no time to set hence might look cakey if not blended completely. I would advise you to start with pea size amount and add layers as you go to achieve your desired coverage & finish.

Do I Recommend Estee Lauder Double Wear Makeup?

• It is Holy Grail foundation for oily to normal skinned girls. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for high coverage, long stay & lightweight foundation for matte finish.
• For dry skin, I think it might accentuate dry patches hence one must moisturize highly before using this foundation.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Makeup With SPF 10, is a lightweight yet high coverage foundation with vast range of shades. The coverage is buildable and stays matte for long hours. It is a must have for festive & wedding season when your base makeup is supposed to stay intact. The price is on higher side but it’s from Estee Lauder. A high end quality product. No wonder it is favorite of makeup lovers.

I am going to repurchase it in a shade closer to my skin tone once I finish the current bottle.
